Prospectus

Nutley Primary School was built in 1853 as a Voluntary Controlled Church of England School. Set in the beautiful Ashdown Forest, we cater for pupils aged four to eleven years old from Nutley, Uckfield, Crowborough and the surrounding areas.

Together with the Church of St James the Less, Nutley Primary School has been at the heart of Nutley village, Uckfield and Crowborough town communities for over 160 years. We work closely with other local schools as part of the East Sussex Education Improvement Partnerships (EIPs) and are proud to be part of the Uckfield Town Schools Alliance which is part of the Wealden EIP.

Education Improvement Partnerships (EIPs) are the area-based structures East Sussex has developed to co-ordinate the work of primary schools and early years providers to improve outcomes for all pupils within the school-led system.

EIPs receive funding from the local authority to identify and address the needs of all schools within the EIP. Through the EIP Chair, they report to the Primary Board to help identify county-wide priorities and are accountable to the Primary Board for the planning, implementation and impact of the EIP’s work.

The school has a strong Christian ethos and a link with the church is evident in all it does. Christian symbols are evident throughout the building and displays are regularly linked to stories from the Bible. Though as a school we promote the values of the Christian faith, we recognise that some of our children come from other religions and cultural backgrounds and we respect their beliefs. In this way, the children learn the importance of working together with the church as part of the local community
